Being a Cravings Master means you know what to do to be healthy and you can do it without letting cravings or unhealthy desires throw you off track.

By finding your score, you can pinpoint the areas you need to work on to gain more self-knowledge and self-control in your eating and health habits. It gives you a benchmark to guide your work and measure your progress. As you practice this method, your score is sure to go up!

How much do you agree with the following statements?

There are 20 statements in this assessment.

The first 10 ask about your level of self-knowledge: How much do you know about yourself and what you need to do to be healthy and achieve your health goals?

The second 10 ask about your level of self-control: How much can you control and motivate yourself to follow through what what you know is healthy for you?

For each statement, pick a number from 1-10. Don’t overthink it. Just go with the number you feel.

    5. I’m good at connecting with and reading my body. I know what my body needs and is asking for.
    6. I have sharp instincts about what’s right for me, and I trust those instincts.
    7. I’m sensitive to my body’s cues of hunger, fullness and preference.
    8. I can tell the difference between the cravings I should follow and those I shouldn’t (e.g., I can tell the difference between real and emotional hunger).
    9. I stay aware of what I’m eating and how much. I don’t zone out or go on autopilot while I eat.
    10. I listen to my body and rely more on internal cues than external ones, such as food availability, portion size, or other people’s behavior.

    3. I desire healthy foods and activities. Unhealthy foods and activities don’t tempt me much because I don’t want them. I prefer healthier options and enjoy a healthy lifestyle.
    4. I can easily keep on track with healthy choices. I’m not always perfect, but I maintain balance. I don’t swing from high levels of control with food to no control at all.
    5. I can easily say no to foods and activities I know aren’t good for me.
    6. When I feel a craving for unhealthy foods, I can easily stop the craving.
    7. I can easily stop eating when I know I’ve had enough. I enjoy some indulgence, but I rarely overindulge. I know my limits and honor my feelings of fullness.
    8. I rarely eat because of emotion, whether the emotion is negative (e.g., stress, bordum) or positive (e.g., celebration, excitement).
    9. I know how to handle people who may pressure me to do or consume something I know isn’t healthy for me. I don’t give in to their pressure.
    10. I plan ahead and prep my meals to make healthy choices easier and set myself up for success.

Calculate your score

Add your answers for statements 1-10 and 11-20, which will show your level of self-knowledge and self-control as a percentage.

If your total score for statements 1-10 is 76, then you know 76% about need to do for yourself. If your total score for statements 11-20 is 64, then you are 64% in control.

Add all the numbers and divide by 2 to calculate your Cravings Master Score.

In this example, your Cravings Master Score is 70, which means you’ve reached 70% mastery. You’re well on your way!

This assessment gives you great direction because you can see what you need to work on to increase your score and therefore your mastery with food.

Look at the statements you gave lower scores to and choose one you’d like to work on. After awhile, come back to this page to recalculate your score and celebrate your progress.
